About Prolific Studio
From code to creation — software, 3D design, and engineering done right.
Our Philosophy
Prolific Studio exists at the intersection of software and physical design. We build digital platforms, engineer 3D-printed products, and advise on technology — always with the same conviction: every detail matters.
We don't chase trends or cut corners. Whether it's a web application, a precision-printed prototype, or a strategic technology decision, the standard is the same: Excellence, without exception.
That's the thread that runs through everything we do — from the first line of code to the final layer of filament.
The Person Behind the Studio
Louis Kotze
Founder & Lead Developer
Louis is a full-stack software developer with over a decade of experience in enterprise software, scalable architecture, and Agile delivery. He holds a Diploma in IT (Software Development) from Varsity College, where he was recognised as top student in all three years, along with Professional Scrum Master (PSM I) and Professional Scrum Developer (PSD) certifications.
His career includes leading projects at some of South Africa's most demanding organisations. At BMW Group, he served as Senior Developer and Technical Maintenance Manager on global document management systems, collaborating with teams across Germany and South Africa. At Discovery, he designed reusable CRM components for the Group Information Systems division. At Hello Group, he championed Kubernetes and microservices adoption, led FinTech projects evaluated by SARB and Deloitte UK, and managed distributed teams across India and Mauritius.
Most recently, as Lead Developer at iOCO Digital, Louis has been delivering enterprise platform engagements, leading a distributed team across South Africa, India, Switzerland, and the US, and driving the adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
Alongside client work, Louis contributes upstream to the Linux kernel, wpa_supplicant, NetworkManager, and the wireless regulatory database — 17 commits merged across five projects. Recent work includes seven WiFi 7 multi-link connection fixes merged into wpa_supplicant over July and August 2026, an RF-calibration fix for RTL8922AU WiFi 7 adapters now in the mainline kernel, WiFi 7 multi-link roaming improvements merged into NetworkManager, and an ongoing audit of the wireless regulatory database with seven patches merged across six countries. That upstream discipline travels back into client work: primary-source verification, rigorous reviews, and the habit of shipping the real fix rather than the workaround. He also mentors graduates through the University of Pretoria Mentorship Programme.
That enterprise and upstream experience, building under pressure, at scale, for regulated industries and kernel maintainers alike, shaped his approach to quality. Prolific Studio started in 2015 during Louis's studies as a home for personal projects, hosting APIs and databases for varsity work and side builds. What began as a developer's sandbox grew into a full studio combining software expertise with 3D design, engineering, and a maker's instinct for building things that work. Based in Stilbaai on the Garden Route, the studio now serves clients across South Africa.
Outside of work, Louis is into 3D printing, gaming, and exploring the outdoors. He has dabbled in robotics builds over the years (Arduino, ESP32) and still enjoys the occasional maker project. He lives on the Garden Route with his wife and dogs.

Where We Are
Based in Stilbaai on the Garden Route, Western Cape — we serve clients in Mossel Bay, George, and across South Africa. For software and consulting work, we operate fully remote.
For 3D printing, local collection is available, or we ship nationwide.
P.S. It's in the details.
